8:00 Open Mic
9:00 FEATURE POETS Kevin Devaney & Tanya Rubins
KEVIN DEVANEY is a first year MFA student at Sarah Lawrence. He likes cooking, ultimate frisbee, and madcap adventures. Anguine, awake, apocalyptic, and avast are some of his favorite words beginning with the letter “A,” what are yours? Kevin is the founder of Best Damn Poetry Show, and the Sarah Lawrence Spoken Word Collective: the campus’ first weekly poetry open mic.
TANYA RUBINS is an utterly engaging performer who quietly caresses your throat with careless giggles, until you realize you've been perniciously garnered into an emotional choke hold. With her contageous delight, genuine affection, and playfully self-conscious style, Tanya dexterously discloses her revelations of the ridiculous and the profound, leaving audiences belly laughing one minute and stifling gasps and tears the next.
