Drawings and Paintings 2011-2013
February 22nd - March 17th
reception: March 2nd 7pm-9pm
Stash White draws inspiration from many areas of life, most influential of all may be his own personal journey. He is always on the search for answers, whether they come through conversations with himself, an old song playing on an AM radio, or simply looking in a mirror. White creates his drawings and paintings as vehicles for discovery, producing exciting and unpredictable results with techniques like rubbing, soaking and pouring. He also finds a much-needed sense of calm and escape in these repetitive motions. Often seduced by materials, White generates an intimate connection with all elements of his process. He works with a limited color palette, likes to make monochromatic grid pieces, and will leave you enraptured with wonder.
Stash White earned his BFA at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1997. He lives and works in Western Mass.
