Western Mass Moving Arts Festival

Plainfield, Mass — Each year amidst the lush backdrop of New England Summer Earthdance Creative Living Project hosts The Western Mass Moving Arts Festival (WMMAF).  This weekend-long festival, which will take place August 16-19, invites people from a range of disciplines and skill levels to spend three-days of intensive study and creative retreat with locally and nationally renowned movement, music and theatre artists.  The days consist of intensives and workshops in a multiplicity of disciplines with ample time to enjoy Earthdance’s 100 acres of woods, fields and walking trails.  A faculty performance open to the public will mark the final night of the festival: August 18th at 8pm.

WMMAF offers an unparalleled opportunity for urban and rural creative exchange in the Pioneer Valley, creating a vital conversation between local artists and those based in the city.  In addition to the morning intensives eight other artists will be teaching afternoon workshops in a range of disciplines including voice, site-specific movement, performance presence and documentation: Margot Bassett (NYC), Davina Cohen (NYC), Krista DeNio (Northampton), Debra Disbrow (NYC), Julia Handschuh (Northampton), Kristin Horrigan (Brattelboro), Lani Nahele (Northampton), Terre Unité Parker (Easthampton) and Jen Polins (Northampton).
