Dik Nikson and Brain Clippings, arguably the two most delirious musicians in Western Mass., have just released their latest projects into the world via The Starving Artists Guild and Radiator Collective.
Both differ greatly in sound and style: Dik Nikson's self-titled debut an organic mash-up of hippy rock, Brain Clippings' a five-part industrial noise symphony sold with (by the artist's request) dietary salvia supplements.
However different though, both releases do represent some kind of common aesthetic through a vaguely narrative focus on counterculture psychedelia. The music is intersected with cut-ups from recordings of famous 60's/70's political figures, Dik Nikson, of course, paying ironic and sarcastic homage to the great man they are named after, by using several of his quotes, and Brain Clippings topping off his meditative noise signals with Timothy Leary talking about Tibetian monks and energy particles.
The two projects are distinct, trippy, unassuming and beautiful. We encourage you to check them out or purchase them at either
