- Christalena Hughmanick grew up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania where her love of fiber arts began with a simple knitting lesson from her Mother. She continued to explore knitting as well as drawing, sewing, embroidery, and other fiber arts during her education at the Maryland Institute College of Art. After graduating in 2004 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fiber, she went on to study abroad in Paris, France where her research project of Victorian women introduced her to the art of tatting. She continues to use the fiber arts to create sculpture and installations about hysteria from a home studio in Northampton, Massachusetts.
