I create assembles/sculpture/constructs from found and not so found objects from parking lots, streets, nature, flea markets and tag sales. Inspired by the approach of the surrealists my work stresses the subconscious or non-rational significance of imagery arrived at by automatism or the exploitation of chance effects and unexpected juxtapositions. Some of my assemblages often express personal views on social, political and religious issues and other times depict dreams I may have had. Others are purely automatic – they just come together. I recycle the discarded items of our existence. To me they are treasures – objects with a soul. Nothing is “useless”. Removed from their familiar surroundings and thrown together by chance these objects take on new identities and arrive at an unintended destiny.
