Artist Statement/Bio
Bass-Baritone Tom O'Toole has been noted for his "deep, resonating sound" by OperaOnlineUS, for his “wonderful voice” and “smashing acting” by New Hampshire Seacoast, and The Springfield Republican has noted: “O'Toole has the vocal equipment for Verdi, grandly present and full-throttle from his rich, commanding low- and mid-range, to ringing, heroic high notes”.

With conductor Gil Rose and the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Mr. O’Toole created the role of John Wilkes Booth for the premiere and recording of Eric Sawyer’s Our American Cousin- a new opera about events surrounding the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. In recent seasons, he has appeared with Opera Boston in Der Freischutz, Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny, Ernani, and Lucrezia Borgia. He has also appeared in Carmen for Granite State Opera, La Boheme for both Sarasota Opera and Boston Lyric Opera, and, as a member of the Sarasota Opera Studio, he covered multiple principal roles in Le nozze di Figaro and Verdi's I Masnadieri. Additional roles include Rigoletto, Friedrich Bhaer in Little Women, Father in Hänsel und Gretel, Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia, and Alidoro in La Cenerentola.

Mr. O’Toole’s most recent concert appearances include Carmina Burana for Springfield Symphony Orchestra’s 65th Anniversary Celebration, Springfield Symphony Orchestra’s Opera Gala, Verdi Requiem and Elijah for Boston's Masterworks Orchestra & Chorale, as well as La Traviata and Mozart’s Requiem for Pioneer Valley Symphony.

Mr. O'Toole is a resident of South Hadley, MA, and holds degrees in Drama and Music from the University of California, Irvine.
