Artist Statement/Bio

About Gina Beavers

Gina Beavers has been working as a professional artist since 2001. She is a painter and a graphic artist. Her paintings focus mostly on portraiture with a dramatic use of saturated color and bold lines. Her work has been collected widely over the years and has been shown in numerous one person and group shows. Beavers’ work has also been used in a number of public venues in the Western Massachusetts region, including several public art initiatives. She illustrated the children's book Coota and the Magic Quilt and the covers of The Practice of Power: Finding Success in a Diverse World (featured in Forbes Magazine) and I Am: Renewal From Within the Garden.

Beavers worked in radio for over a decade as an on air host, Production Manager, and Director of News and Public Affairs.
She has hosted interviews on podcasts and on stage. She also served as a co-host on the Western Mass online series In My Opinion. She has also done voice over work, background acting and commercials in New York City.

Beavers served as President of the Springfield Cultural Council (a local arm of the Massachusetts Cultural Council) for 2 years, headed the Springfield Arts Initiative at the Springfield Business Improvement District, and served as a judge in the Massachusetts Congressional Art contest twice. She is a freelance writer and the former Editor of Arts and Culture at the Valley Advocate newspaper located in Northampton, Massachusetts.

Beavers received her M.A. and B.A. in American History at the Universities of Massachusetts Amherst and Pittsburgh respectively.
