Artists are invited to submit a proposal to create a large woodcut, at least 24” x 36” in dimension, for the next BIG INK printing event. BIG INK is a collaborative project that encourages the practice and understanding of large woodcut. Each year artists from all backgrounds including sculpture, photography, painting, and print create a large woodcut in a BIG INK workshop or in response to an open call for entry.
Facilitator and printmaker Lyell Castonguay provides supplies, guidance, and technical support to the artists and helps them during the scheduled printing day. For many artists, this is his or her first woodcut and the experience creates a new avenue of expression. For others who have previous printmaking experience, BIG INK is the catalyst for realizing a large scale project.
It is free to submit your proposal for consideration! As you complete the application please read the terms and conditions, it will provide insight into how the project works. Artist are given approximately two months to complete their woodcut prior to printing day.
