Un Cuento Congo - "Esclavitud"

Part 1 of a three part dance-theater suite depicting three different historical periods and states of being for Africans in Cuba: slavery, struggle and liberation.

This story-in-motion is told through the dances and rhythms of the Kongo/Bantú cultures of Central-West Africa which are at the heart of Afro-Cuban culture.

Performed by Grupo Folklórico Palo Santo on a live broadcast of the "Homegrown" program, produced by television station GCTV in Greenfield, MA.
