Event Description

UNITE will host a gallery reception for local artist, David Andrews on Friday August 10th, from 6-9pm; refreshments will be served. David’s work will be on display during the months of August and September.

David is a Chicago born artist currently living and working in Western Massachusetts. He began drawing in 2007 as a “time-killer” while working at the Smith College Museum of Art. Guests and staff began noticing and encouraging his drawing, which he has turned into a full-time passion while still working for the museum. After taking a CAD class he chose to use that as a basis for his work, canceling out much of the exact measurements and letting his shapes take on an organic form. He calls his work a “fluid elegance,” turning 2 dimensional drawings into sculpture on paper. The title for the show “What Do You See” invites viewers to see and interpret his images for themselves. He has two sons that are14 and 19. David is a familiar persona on the Smith College Campus in Northampton.

Don’t miss this chance to experience Arts Night Out to support local artists.
