Event Description

We're pleased to feature painter and sculptor Robert Markey in an exhibit he's calling: See the Beauty; End the Violence.  He writes:

"As artists, what can we do to end violence against women? When I draw or paint women I see such beauty, and the thought came to me that if everyone could see this beauty then the violence would end.

The exhibition is a collection of my paintings and sculptures of women created over a twenty-five year period, interspersed with statistics of the violence done to women in so many ways. It is a retrospective of my work with a profound social/political message.

I believe that if people knew the extent of the violence, and are moved by the beauty in the exhibition, they will be inspired to do more to end this violence."

***********

As is our practice on Arts Night Out, we'll have a table full of sumptuous food prepared by Curator and Chef Tricia McDermott. We'll also be featuring music from some of the cultures represented (in the paintings particularly). So if this ANO is like the others we've experienced at the imagineART Gallery, the space will be filled with interesting people, lively conversation and enough energy to light Main Street!

Don't miss this one!
