Silent Revelations is a solo exhibition of works on paper, paintings and sculpture by local artist Patricia Jenks on view at the Northampton Center for the Arts April 2nd- April 29th 2009. Inspired by the writing of Thomas Merton and music by Miles Davis, Jenks uses the action of drawing to find serenity and a sense of connection within the chaos and business of everyday life.
Vibrant forms emerge out of a complex weave of color and line in her large-scale meditations on paper and canvas and come off the wall in her mixed-media sculpture. Jenks hopes they will inspire others to slow down and find a sense of connection to the natural and spiritual world.
Patricia Jenks is an artist living in Holyoke, Massachusetts and working in her studio at Canal Gallery & Artist Studios. She specializes in painting, works on paper, and mixed media sculpture. She has been a working artist since 1972 and has also taught college level and community art courses over the last 30 years. Currently, she is the Curator for the art gallery at Western New England College where she also teaches art. Her work has been exhibited and collected in the Southeast throughout the United States and Canada. She received her BFA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her MFA from the College of Art & Architecture at Clemson University in South Carolina.
An artist reception will be held Friday April 10th from 5-7 pm during Northampton's Arts Night Out.
