Event Description

Using Photography to Access the Unconscious:
a gallery talk by Peter Schlessinger

PETER SCHLESSINGER presents a gallery talk, "Using Photography to Access the Unconscious" which will expand on his approach to creating the images in his June show of new photographic work, INERTIAL NAVIGATION.  The title refers to the attitude with which these images were made -- one in which his way of working invites often-unconscious internal states to select metaphors for themselves from the display of the external world. Using the camera as "an emotional divining rod", Schlessinger creates images that speak to the realities we feel as much as the realities we see.
